The Decadent Fudge Company was opened in Dec 2013 when the owners were looking to open a fudge/gift shop to showcase their products. Mick and Sue O'Callaghan relocated from Motueka to Hanmer Springs to open a shop and to share their artisan fudges with the Canterbury people.
In 2019, with the store being sold, Mick and Sue have ventured in a new direction. The fudge is now sold online to their loyal clientele and to wholesalers.
The key to their success is their 'secret' recipe which stands shoulders above many other fudges made in NZ. The Decadent Fudge Co has made a health and ethical decision not to use Palm Oil or other highly processed ingredients which are widely used in many fudges in NZ today. They pay a higher premium for cocoa butter, but they know their discerning customers appreciate this. "Our fudge is made from scratch with good old fashioned ingredients that have been used by many top chefs/cooks before us. Our huge data base of returning customers shows we must be doing something right."
While Mick is the main fudge maker, Sue has recently spent many months perfecting a healthy fudge alternative for diabetics, keto and GF customers. "This is proving extremely popular and we are constantly sending this NZ wide as the word is spreading."
With one of the largest selections of fudge flavours in NZ, there's guaranteed to be a favourite flavour just for you. Some of the seasonal flavours that you might see are Feijoa, Mango, White Christmas and recently Jelly Tip, Hokey Pokey or Licorice Allsorts.
